Morocco

Half of Moroccans depend on personal free trade as well as employment in public sectors. And after the coronavirus pandemic, living conditions have become complicated, especially with the increase in prices for products and fuel, on which the economy of the country depends. It is important to note that there is social solidarity among the people.

Most Moroccans save some money from their monthly salaries or from what they inherit from their family. There are several ways to save this money: keep it at home; buy a house that can be expanded for additional profit; buy gold, in which they hide their money until the value of gold increases for each person according to his income. The banking system is considered unsafe for deposits and money storage.

When buying goods, Moroccans pay attention to quality and prices, as well as marketing and reviews. The opinion of influencers on social media is important to them.

In Morocco, most cities have 4G coverage with about 70% of the total population. And this country ranks second in Africa in terms of quality and coverage capacity. Only villages and mountains have weak or missing coverage. Currently, they are preparing to introduce 5G services by 2030 on the eve of the World Cup.

ADSL Internet service is available in most cities of Morocco, except for remote villages and mountains of Anti-Atlas and High Atlas. Fiber optic service is available in 50% of Morocco’s cities. The number of subscriptions to Internet services in Morocco is now growing, as well as the number of telephony users.

There are about 34.47 million Internet users in Morocco.

Mobile Internet connection speed via cellular networks: 36.52 Mbit/s.

The average speed of the fixed Internet connection is 26.43 Mbps.

Approximately 80% of Moroccans use social media every day. Facebook, Tiktok, YouTube and Instagram are especially popular. They watch videos and rely on buying goods and products through them. The Jumia website used to dominate the Moroccan market for the sale of goods, but over the past 4 years it has been constantly losing its position. YouTube, followed by Tiktok and Facebook, occupy the top positions in daily use by Moroccans. And the local population spends 4 hours a day browsing these social networks. The advertising embedded in the videos works well with Moroccans, especially with an emphasis on quality product marketing with summarized information and customer opinions in the advertisement. Also, the older generation relies on reading advertisements and health blogs and on their information and reviews to be loyal to the product.

More than half of Moroccans rely on alternative medicine and herbs, while the rest rely on medicines. The local population trusts Moroccan doctors, especially private medicine.  State medicine is not highly trusted.
